Case study
Fantastic Britain

Fantastic Britain is a documentary about — well, Britain, and its relation to fantasy fiction, to put it bluntly. The client asked for a backdrop and titles for a TV documentary, to be used as a set of 3-second splash screens in a rough-edit version for pitching to networks. These were envisaged as placeholders, which could later be animated when the documentary received funding to make the broadcast version.

Sample screen shots

Here’s a selection of screens produced on the way to the final articles. The client’s initial request was for a static collage. Here’s what happened next (click on the thumbnails for larger pics with running commentary…)

Final version

This YouTube version shows an early rough cut used as a teaser. The third screen was dropped in the final edit: you can see the other two screens in action towards the end, just after the 3 minute mark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=winkhqbyTsU
