How to order

Medievalbookshop has largely closed the bookselling side of its business, but for the time being orders will be fulfilled if possible within the UK only.

You’re welcome to place an order, but please bear in mind that if you’ve stumbled upon medievalbookshop’s listings, you’ve found your way into a non-public part of the site (with apologies for the current chaotic state of the listings!) Books listed may have been sold or boxed-up for storage, so it’s not always possible to find everything you want. If you find something of interest, please feel welcome to get in touch anyway (use the contact links above) — every effort will be made to fulfil your order.

1. You don’t need to create an account. Use the contact links at the top of this page to reserve the book(s) you want — and yes, the 10% discount does still apply for 2 or more titles in a single order. Please note: bearing in mind the possibility of some books being unavailable, please don’t send any form of payment at this stage.

2. You will be emailed to confirm availability of the book(s). Postage is added to all items that do not specifically state “P&P inc.” under their price, so the cost of any postage will be confirmed at the same time. You’re welcome to adjust or cancel your order at any time before it is despatched.

— In all cases standard second-class rates are assumed (usually 3 to 5 working days for delivery); unless specifically stated, other options such as tracked or first-class delivery are not included, so please do mention if you wish to use these. If a postage price is not stated or included, it will usually be added to the total; this will be at the current rate stated on the Royal Mail website.

3. Make any enquiries and adjustments that you wish. Once you’re happy with everything, send payment: either a UK cheque, or use Paypal for credit cards — please DO NOT send your credit card details to medievalbookshop.

— Don’t forget to provide your delivery address!

4. Your books are despatched when payment is received.

5. Please check your order as soon as possible after you receive it.

Covid-19

During periods of lockdown post offices may be closed, so you should allow for delays in despatch or delivery; but as stated above, every effort will be made to fulfil any orders received. You can check the anticipated service levels in your area at the Royal Mail website.

Wherever possible please allow extra time for pre-Christmas deliveries. Again, check with your local Royal Mail office — they do their best to give accurate advice, but please be aware that circumstances may change from day to day.

Packages travelling by post are still generally deemed to be low-risk, but research findings change all the time. Current advice remains to wash hands regularly — additionally, you may wish to consider a quarantine regime for packages coming into your home. You can find current advice and updates at the World Health Organization’s website. It shouldn’t need saying, but please don’t use social media to spread gossip and rumour!
