Overall condition poor to fair: the boards are rather grubby, the spine frayed at both ends with its backstrip starting to peel; page edges dusty; the pages at either end of the book are rather foxed, with some smaller spots here and there elsewhere; previous owner’s names on the front enpaper, and at least 1 text page has an inked underline; internally the binding has some splits starting here and there, but overall it looks sound; several folios in the Milton and Bacon sections are uncut.
