Sie stammen aus dem 10. bis 16. jahrhundert und wurden in Frankreich, Italien, Belgien, Deutschland, England, Spanien, Polen und im östlichen Mittelmeerraum angefertigt. Zu den Highlights gehören vier ottonische Handschriften, romanische Schätze aus Deutschalnd, Italien, Frankreich, eine englische gotische Apokalypse sowie spätmittelalterliche Handschriften, die von solchen Meistern wie Jean Fouquet, Girolama da Cremona, Simon Marmion und Joris Hoefnagel augeschmückt wurden.
