How to order this book

This edition comprises a selection from Fragments I and VII of The Canterbury Tales. Chaucer opens The Canterbury Tales with an introduction known as the General Prologue — with which this selection also begins. The first tale, that of the Knight, is not included here. The remainder of Fragment I is, however, included complete. This comprises, in order, The Miller’s Prologue and Tale, The Reeve’s Prologue and Tale, and The Cook’s Prologue and Tale. This selection also includes two individual tales from Fragment VII: The Shipman’s Tale and The Nun’s Priest’s Prologue and Tale. The text is based on the original Everyman Canterbury Tales, and includes modern English glosses of difficult words in the margins of the text.
